Hi, I’m Marcos!
I began practising as a medical herbalist in 2004, initially specializing in complementary care for people living with HIV, working from Neal’s Yard Remedies’ Therapy Rooms and Tony's Holistic Centre in London. I worked as a dispenser in Middlesex University’s training clinic for their Western Herbal Medicine BSc in 2009-2010, and later as a clinical supervisor for the Western Herbal medicine BSc and MSc courses at Middlesex from 2013-2018, and for Westminster University in 2021-2022, and Heartwood online in 2020-2023.
I'm also a medical and horary astrologer, and a lifelong student of renaissance and classical astrology. I'm an affiliate tutor for Kepler College in the U.S.A., the UK Qualified Horary Practitioner (QHP) school, and a faculty member of the Academy of Astrology UK. My first book, The Secret Life of Chocolate (thesecretlifeofchocolate.com), was released in 2020, and the forthcoming paperback "herbalist edit" of this book - Pharmakakawa: Theobroma cacao in medicine and ceremony, was released in November 2024.
Medical astrology has a long history in association with herbal medicine, and it's my hope that Plan*tarium will help raise the standard of both medical astrology and herbal medicine by making these incredible tools more accessible to all.
